The S3 (Safe∙Secure∙Sustainable) Symposium on Food Systems & Public Health is a collaborative venture between federal, state, local and industry environmental health professionals, food producers, academia and other individuals and organizations that seek to promote the understanding of the interdependency of agricultural production, sea food, food safety, social equity and environmental sustainability.
The first and very successful S3 Symposium held in San Diego in November 2009 brought a wide range of food, public health and environmental interests together for two days of highly informative interdisciplinary presentations and panel discussions.
S3 2011 in Monterey brought together experts in their respective fields to share information and to participate in panel discussions, with an emphasis on food systems as they relate to both the agriculture and sea food industries. Sessions were attended by local business professionals, ocean research scientists, environmental health specialists, students, public health officers, and agriculture and food industry leaders. The S3 Symposium was held May 25th, 26th, 27th, 20011 at the Monterey Marriot in Monterey California.
