Nelson Kerr, S3 Food Symposium Chair Biography
Nelson Kerr, MPA, REHS functions as the Director of Environmental Health for the City of Long Beach Department of Health and Human Services. He has been employed by the City of Long Beach for 24 years, starting as a trainee in Environmental Health. Mr. Kerr currently oversees the bureau’s planning; budgeting, staffing, and supervising of program staff; development of internal and external partnerships; and ensuring timely and effective achievement of objectives. Mr. Kerr’s broad Environmental Health experience includes oversight of food facility regulation, hazardous materials, medical waste compliance, underground storage tanks, disaster preparedness; recreational water quality; vector control; housing and other complex interdisciplinary programs.
He is a member of NEHA, CEHA and active in the California Conference of Directors of Environmental Health (CCDEH).
